Annie Rose May 2010 Glass Bead Week

May 2010 Annie Rose Bead Week.  Once again a tremendous week worth of workshops from Curved Beads, wirework and Precious Metal Clay, to 4 full days of workshops with Sarah Hornik - this years International artist from Tel Aviv Israel.

Every year during Bead Week we get to meet some wonderful artists who come from all over the world.  This year we had students from California USA, Adelaide and locally as far away as Christchurch.  Everyone had an absolute ball!  The workshops were motivating and inspirational and meeting other like minded artists and making new friends is always fantastic.

This years high points for me personally was learning how to use gold and palladium in lampworking - eye candy for sure.  Probably a high point on a social level was having a student who was also a wonderful chef.  Apparently there was Feijoa and apple crumble, carrot cake with a delicioushimo icing and a chocolate and cream feast, which many will be having to shed the pounds from in the months to come.

Photos of Bead Week including the Annie Rose Dinner Party and the NZGBA Glass Bead Competition awards 2010 can be viewed from the main page GALLERY TAB.

Annie Rose Market Day November 2009

Annie Rose hosted its first annual Market Day on Saturday November 28th.  Thank you to those who supported and helped on the day.  There was a wonderful array of New Zealand hand made fused glass and glass beads, jewellery, blown glass goblets, vases and bottles, and silver clay pendants, rings, chains, jewellery making components and even a delicious hand made chocolate stall and a favourite with everyone - a temporary tattoo stall.  We hope to see our annual Market Day get bigger and better every year, so keep it in mind for November 2010 - a great way to get gifts out there for the Christmas shoppers.

Congratulations to Aaron Nixon-Mead and Greer Scott who both guessed that there were 100 beads in the bead jar.  Greer received a voucher for a glass bead making workshop and Aaron a voucher for a glass fusing workshop.

An open torch was available in the Annie Rose studio so that experienced bead makers could make beads to donate to the Beads of Courage Child Cancer Foundation.  A big thank you to all those who participated in this very worthy program.
